The Creighton University centre for Marriage and Family listed amongst other things, poor communication, financial problems, a lack of commitment to the marriage, a dramatic change in priorities, infidelity, failed expectations or unmet needs, addictions and substance abuse, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, lack of conflict resolution skills as some of the reasons why couples split.
While the above seems exhaustive, the team noted that one distinct problem in a large percentage of troubled marriages is the constant bickering and expectations over household tasks. Unexpected you might say, but it is very true. This finding has been buttressed by psychologists and social welfare experts with a clear conclusion drawn that mutual appreciation and understanding of each other's role is a very strong key in attaining matrimonial happiness.
In the various episodes, the Switching Roles project team has delved into the world of spousal communication and role understanding in a practical and fun filled manner to help create healthy matrimonial situation and thus improve social relations and healthy disposition of the individual in result-seeking occupational engagement. In these series, we will see spousal partners stepping out of their shoes and live in their other half's shoes for a short spell of time in order to better appreciate the other person, thus leading to mutual understanding and empathy being reawakened in their hearts.
Amongst other things, the episodes shall objectify friction roots and stereotype opinions of spousal partners with a view towards mutual knowledge of each other, while boosting matrimonial happiness.
In summary therefore, the Switching roles reality TV show aims to rekindle the flames of love and empathy between married couples, by reversing their primary roles for a period of time, to enable them feel each other's pains, joys, frustrations and victories
